September 15: Our Lady of Sorrows

The seven sorrows are:  Simeon’s prophecy at the presentation of Jesus in the temple, the flight into Egypt, the disappearance of the boy Jesus in Jerusalem, the road to Calvary, the crucifixion, the removal from the cross and the entombment. Taken from Living with Christ

Spiritual Growth of Members - Pope Francis Prayer Intentions:

SEPTEMBER – Parishes “That our parishes, animated by a missionary spirit, may be places where faith is communicated and charity is seen.”

OCTOBER – Workers and the Unemployed “That all workers may receive respect and protection of their rights, and that the unemployed may receive the opportunity to contribute to the common good.”

NOVEMBER – Christians in Asia “That Christians in Asia, bearing witness to the Gospel in word and deed, may promote dialogue, peace and mutual understanding, especially with those of other religions.”

DECEMBER – The Elderly “That the elderly, sustained by families and Christian communities, may apply their wisdom and experience to spreading the faith and forming the new generation.”

Study of Catholic Teachings – As a new session of lessons start in our parishes this Fall, check out the RCIA Program, Understanding the Catholic Faith Series, Catechises or any other Parish programs that you can assist with or attend to deepen your understanding of our Christian Faith.

Evangelization and Mission Assistance – January 14, 2018 World Day of Immigrants and Refugees The theme of Pope Francis’ Message is “Welcoming, protecting, promoting and integrating migrants and refugees” The Holy Father recalls that the solidarity of the Church “must be concretely expressed at every stage of the migratory experience….we are called to respond to the many challenges with generosity, promptness, wisdom and foresight, each according to their own abilities.”

Deceased Members – Please continue to submit your deceased member forms to the National office in a timely fashion – Thank-you!

“Give something, however small, to the one in need. For it is not small to one who has nothing. Neither is it small to God, if we have given what we could.” St. Gregory Nazianzen
