Christian Family Life - Communique #1 – Susan Steiner   August 13, 2016

I am honored to be your newly elected Christian Family Life Standing Committee Chairperson for the BC & Yukon Provincial Catholic Women’s League of Canada (CWL). This Committee will be a new venture for me. I have been looking through the box given me by your last CFL chairperson Sharon Geiger. Sharon told me to give her a call if I was in need of some guidance, she will likely get a few calls. When I read the duties of the Chairperson of this Committee the Bible reading Mt. 25:35, “I was hungry and you fed me, thirsty and you gave me a drink; I was a stranger and you received me into your homes, naked and you clothed me; I was sick and you took care of me, in prison and you visited me.” came to mind.

I have been a member of this great organization since 1993. I have held the position of President, Secretary, Resolutions and Legislation Chairperson on both the Parish and Diocesan levels. The Christian Family Life Committee is new to me and I hope I can do it justice. I am looking forward to deepening my knowledge of the CWL. Thank you, Evelyn, for appointing me to this Standing Committee.

Who am I? I am a daughter of a rancher, married a rancher, and now I am a widow of a rancher and still reside on the ranch. Our Parish is involved in the Rose Prince Pilgrimage. I have two daughters, one son–in-law, two granddaughters and one grandson all of whom I love dearly.

Please encourage the parishes in your diocese to keep on writing letters, signing petitions and sending postcards asking both the federal and provincial/territorial governments to legislate guaranteed access to quality hospice/palliative care to all Canadians and follow through with the financial commitment needed.

Ministry to Youth

Young people are the church, the people of God. Youth today have much to share; an exchange of ideas between generations is a source of growth and renewal for all.

July 19th, 2016, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made an announcement online regarding, The Prime Minister’s Youth Council. Goggle—Prime Minister’s Youth Council

The purpose—To provide the Prime Minister with non-partisan advise on national issues such as employment, access to education, building stronger communities as well as climate change and clean growth, among others.
